I was recently asked to do a Q&A with my publisher (Deep River) in preparation for future interviews and media interaction, and so I am going to be posting those answers over the next several blogs.
The first question in the line-up…
QUESTION – Why are we so fascinated with people who have done great things?
ANSWER – I truly believe that we are all hard wired to do great things, and I believe it is this innate characteristic that God programmed in our DNA that attracts us to those who accomplish great things. Our hearts long for purpose and meaning, and I think when we witness others achieving greatness, we start to live vicariously through them. We sometimes silently picture ourselves in their place. The real truth is that we all have the potential and capability to do great things. It begins first with how we see ourselves in relation to God and then discovering what makes us unique. One amazing thing you find in the bible is that God almost always chooses the ordinary, average, seemingly unlikely person to do great things. It is so much more exciting to be on the field than on the sidelines, and my hope is that people will be inspired to stop living vicariously through others and start living out great things in their own lives.
